Global Cooksafe Coalition

About us

Cooking with fossil fuels is unhealthy and unsustainable. It’s also unnecessary.

The Global Cooksafe Coalition (GCC) exists to promote universal access to safe and sustainable kitchens– that means fossil-fuel-free cooking on electric appliances, powered by renewable energy.

The Coalition is:

  • Our member organisations are leaders in the spheres of public health, property and the built environment, aid and development, sustainability and advocacy.
  • Our partners include property companies and commercial partners, who currently hold £135 billion in global property and assets under management
  • Our chef ambassadors demonstrate the advantages of electric cooking for hospitality businesses and home cooks alike.

We ask our partners and chefs to commit to switching to electric cooking methods in the kitchens they manage. For kitchens in OECD countries, this includes committing to:

  • Any new kitchens built from 2030 are powered by electricity
  • Any existing kitchens are powered by electricity by 2040
