Laurent Lemal is a French chef renowned for his creativity and his commitment to Catalan regional ingredients. Born in Douai in 1979, he trained at the culinary school in Le Touquet before honing his skills at several prestigious restaurants, notably under chefs associated with the Alain Ducasse group.
He made a name for himself at La Coopérative restaurant in Bélesta, in the Pyrénées-Orientales, where he earned a Michelin star and developed a bold culinary style that blends technique, plant-based ingredients, and local identity. In 2015, he won the prestigious Bocuse d’Or France competition before representing France at the Bocuse d’Or World Final in 2017, where he notably won the award for best plant-based dish.
Since 2020, Laurent Lemal has been head chef at the fine-dining restaurant La Balette in Collioure, where he creates refined, contemporary dishes inspired by the Mediterranean and the Occitan region.
