Global Cooksafe Coalition

We’re looking for our next GCC Director

We’re hiring for a new Director to lead the Global Cooksafe Coalition. The job description and contact information are below.

Director- Global Cooksafe Coalition

Location: Home-based, remote role, preference for the wider Asia-Pacific region
Contract: 1 FTE, with flexibility for the right person

About Us

The building and construction sector accounts for a staggering 37 percent of global GHG emissions, and cooking is a major driver of new gas connections. Add to this that solid fuel and kerosene use for cooking leads to 3.2 million premature deaths from air pollution each year, and that gas still dominates cooking in OECD countries, and the pivotal role that cooking plays becomes clear—for our health and our climate.

The Global Cooksafe Coalition was formed to make cooking safe and affordable for everyone. We have already signed major partners, from property companies including Lendlease, GPT, and Grosvenor, to celebrity chefs including Neil Perry, Palisa Anderson, Simon Rogan, and Santiago Lastra.

About the Role

We now need a Global Director to manage GCC’s global growth strategy. This will include our expansion into the US and a plan for expanding the GCC beyond the OECD, as well as leadership on how to capitalise on the partnerships we have already developed in Australia, the EU, and the UK.

About You

You are a natural leader and high-level conceptual thinker, comfortable with engaging C-Suite executives and high-profile talent across diverse sectors. You have delivered global strategies with impact, either in the corporate or not-for-profit space. You are ambitious enough to scale an already successful coalition, building power commensurate with the size of the challenges we face.

  • Demonstrated experience engaging with senior leadership positions to organise stakeholders from diverse sectors.
  • A demonstrated understanding of corporate ESG drivers, particularly in the property industry, or the ability to acquire this based on transferable skills.
  • Proven high-level communication skills, including the ability to pitch to C-suite executives in person and in writing, and carry strong, clear narratives in mainstream media.
  • Demonstrated ability to source and analyse a wide range of corporate, industry, financial, economic, and policy data and synthesise relevant facts and issues.
  • Strong vision and the ability to make sound decisions in highly pressured environments.
  • A commitment to an inclusive and empowering approach when providing leadership to a team with diverse expertise and cultural backgrounds.
  • Fluency in English is essential.
  • You must have the right to work in the country you live in. We are not able to offer sponsorship for a business visa or work permit at this time.

Desirable:

  • A passion for food and cooking cultures.
  • An understanding of what drives trend orientation in consumer markets and how communication campaigns can influence this.
