Government Supporters’ Statement of Intent

The Global Cooksafe Coalition (GCC) exists to promote universal access to safe and sustainable cooking.

That means affordable, fossil-fuel-free cooking, using energy-efficient appliances, powered by rapidly decarbonising grids or distributed renewable energy.

We, the undersigned, commit to:

• Undertaking to build no new (state owned) kitchens with fossil fuel connections by 2030
• Undertaking to retrofit (state owned) kitchens to be fossil fuel free by 2040
• Exploring options to legislate or develop planning controls around electrification
• Promoting the electrification of homes and businesses through specific programs and communications
• Consulting with other levels of government, where appropriate, to provide incentives for electrification especially for small business and financially disadvantaged groups.
